About Lisan Fthi

Our Story

Lisan Fthi was founded by Eritrean Catholic individuals from around the world who have experienced firsthand the devastating effects of war, oppression, and the systematic denial of human dignity. Our founders, scattered across Canada, Europe, and the United States, came together with a shared vision: to create an organization that would stand as a beacon of hope and advocacy for all those whose fundamental rights are threatened.

Born from personal experiences of displacement, persecution, and the struggle for basic human rights, Lisan Fthi represents more than just an organization—it embodies the resilience of the human spirit and the unwavering belief that every person deserves to live with dignity and respect.

Mission Statement

To advocate for and defend human dignity across all aspects of life—social, political, and economic—while building international communities rooted in faith, compassion, and the unwavering belief in the sanctity of human life. We work to ensure that every person, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to live with dignity, peace, and hope.

Vision Statement

We envision a world where human dignity is universally recognized and protected, where communities are built on foundations of love, justice, and mutual respect, and where the experiences of those who have suffered oppression become catalysts for positive change and healing for all humanity.

Our Approach

Lisan Fthi operates with a faith-inspired but inclusive approach, welcoming all individuals who share our commitment to human dignity regardless of their religious background. Our work is grounded in Catholic social teaching while embracing the universal values of compassion, justice, and respect for human life.

We believe that those who have experienced oppression and injustice are uniquely positioned to advocate for others facing similar challenges. Our global leadership brings diverse perspectives and lived experiences that inform our advocacy and community-building efforts.

Global Representation

Our organization is truly international, with leadership representation across three continents. This global perspective allows us to understand and address human dignity issues from multiple cultural and regional viewpoints, while maintaining our unified commitment to our core mission and values.
